Four days only? Trucktoberfest’s vacant lot extended.
For the last week, the radio has been blasting the message that Trucktoberfest would be at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds for Four days only, four days only, for days only! Those ads didn’t seem to bring much benefit. Every time I passed the fairgrounds this weekend, there wasn’t anyone out looking at any of the trucks.
It’s no wonder. The ads didn’t promise lowered prices exactly. They only said that the car salesmen were ready to deal. It kind of reminds me of the old SellAThon commercials. Lots of loud hype, but didn’t the car sales go on year long?
So now, the four days have come and gone, and wouldn’t you know it, the four days have been transformed into more days. Trucktoberfest has been extended. It’s getting to be like a statement of cultural defiance, a protest of truck apathy: Hell no, we won’t go… back across the road… to where the same trucks will be on sale next week… and the week after that… but with no pretty banners…

I was lucky to be riding the bus the first time I saw the “Trucktober” sign as, if I would have been in control of vehicle, my fits of laughter would have taken me through the fence. Then I would have to had bought whatever truck I damaged at the fabously normal “Trucktober” prices. Great post!
