Come on down to TCFA this Saturday!

And now for something COMPLETELY different….!  Trumansburg is about more than a convoluted political maneuvering & contentious political bickering!

We’re going to have a skate park event this Saturday, April 28 from 2 until 7 pm.  The public is invited and we guarantee that it’s going to be well worth your effort to mosey on down there to see what this is all about.

Who:  the ad-hoc people’s committee for creating a skate park in Trumansburg

What:  Celebration of our great fundraising success to date, and rally to get more people informed and involved

When:  Saturday April 28.  From 2 to 4 pm we’ll have light refreshments, and a ton of information, including a donor wall of honor, pictures of local skateboarders, skateboard design presentations and skateboarding videos, the history of skateboarding, the history of this project, an opportunity for attendees to voice their opinions to local elected officials, a suggestion box, sales of skate park tee shirts and hoodies, raffles and probably more that I can’t remember at the moment.  And it’s ALL FREE, although if anybody wants to slip a donation into our donation box we certainly wouldn’t say no.

Then, from 4 to 7 pm we get to the celebratory part of the proceedings, with music provided by 3 Guys Named Lenny (unplugged), The Professor and Friends, and Mudbone, in that order….  I can hardly wait, it’s going to be great.

Where:  Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts, Congress and McLallen Streets.

The raffles will include a 50/50 and also a raffle for a year of totally rockin’ pies, totally homemade by yours truly, including such delectable flavors as rhubarb, strawberry-rhubarb (the rhubarb is probably blessed by the good Lord being grown in close proximity to our own Tburg United Methodist Church), fresh blueberry, pumpkin made from locally grown pie pumpkins, apple pie made from Black Diamond Orchard’s apples, and many more, 12 in all, one every month – I’m perfectly willing to work with the raffle winner to produce whatever flavors are especially desired…  Only $5 a ticket for the pie raffle… my mouth starts watering just writing this…

Lots of rumors have gone around saying that this effort is dead.  Well, here’s some news, it’s not dead, not dying, not even sick, it doesn’t even have a sniffle.  An effort that in 12 months raised over $20,000, and this is without applying for grants, or asking people or businesses for money… this is just people who came to our 2 fundraising events, bought tee shirts and just gave us money for this effort.  Some people even just came to the bank with big checks and said, I want to deposit this in the skate park account.  Wow!  We are not going to let down those people, we are not going to go away.

OK, so there was a little setback with the site, but that was only a temporary setback, the water tower is certainly not the only place in the Village where this could be, and we’re currently looking into a number of other possibilities.

So come see what a bipartisan group of committed youth and equally dedicated adults have been up to all these months.  Most of all come and see who we are and learn a little something about our project and have some fun too.  And by all means, get yourself a ticket for that pie raffle!

Rose Hilbert still has the best location of any for the skate park.

The Park may be only about the Price of a Porsche Carrera as was sited in her driveway the other day and she could demonstrate her good will toward the town by donating the site.

    What size does it need to be? 50 X 100? 100 X 200?
    square? 200 X 200?

Simple solution to the site problem.
