Green Gingko Leaves Down

Something that has caught the attention of tree-aware people here in Trumansburg today: Gingko trees are shedding their leaves en masse, though the leaves are still green.
It’s typical for a gingko tree to turn its leaves yellow very quickly, and then to drop them before long. This year, however, Trumansburg’s gingko trees skipped a step. Responding to a hard frost after a long autumn of unusually warm weather, the leaves fell without turning color. I don’t know if the same thing happened to gingko trees elsewhere in Ulysses.
It will make raking leaves a little unusual for a bit, though I expect that the fallen leaves will turn color to something other than green before too long.
