About a benefit concert for BirthNet of the Finger Lakes held in Trumansburg, New York. Sunday, February 28, 4:00 pm at the Trumansburg Fire Hall On Tuesday March 16, the Village of Trumansburg will hold an election for Trustees and Mayor. Go to tcgasmap.org and see all of the gas leases in our area. When we meet the candidates at the Firehall on Sunday, we will be only a few hundred feet away from leased land. Maybe the next candidate forum will be interupted by the sound of giant compressors and tractor trailers hauling toxic fluids [...] As our country inches closer to the next Great Depression, we should be thinking about how we are going to survive it here in Ulysses. We will have to help each other. When we can’t make a living in our failed economy, we will have to cooperate closely with each other in order to meet [...] Historically, in this country, we have structured our tax system such that the poor paid a lower percentage of their income than the rich. For instance, if you’re below the poverty line you pay no income tax, and if you make millions you pay the highest income tax rate. George Bush cut taxes on the [...] The Artisan Cafe in Trumansburg, New York is now for sale, and will soon close its doors. There was a special Trumansburg Village Board meeting on January 27th to discuss the implementation of a fee for service EMS. It ran very smoothly, because no one in attendance raised any of the many important objections that I have written about here and at http://trumansburgambulance.blogspot.com/ for two years. I did not attend, but I [...] Blue Cross is raising rates in California by as much as 39% ! And they are reserving the right to raise rates more than once a year! Some people had big rate increases already last year. This is insane. Could this be coming to New York soon? These private for profit health insurance companies (which [...] The Artisan Cafe in Trumansburg has been open for business for 2 years now, and is dedicated to remaining open in spite of the difficulties expected for a storefront opening up in a time of economic recession. |
