The Next Great Depression

As our country inches closer to the next Great Depression, we should be thinking about how we are going to survive it here in Ulysses.  We will have to help each other.  When we can’t make a living in our failed economy, we will have to cooperate closely with each other in order to meet essential needs.  Our little Trumansburg farmers market is an excellent example of what will help us get through the hard times.  We should increase local production of goods and services.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if we had volunteers with emergency medical training that could help when someone had a medical crisis, regardless of income or insurance coverage?  Doesn’t it make sense that we would do this for each other, like they do in every other industrialized country in the world?  If we agree that there should be no bill when the Fire Department puts out a fire, why wouldn’t we all chip in to provide the same kind of help to a neighbor with a medical emergency?

Oh, that’s right, we do!  Then why the hell would anybody in their right mind want to mess with it?
