Trumansburg and the Question of Rural Character

Trumansburg needs a self-concept that transcends the traditional separations of rural, urban and suburban communities. I’m not sure that language to refer to a village like Trumansburg yet exists.

Finding Ulysses Again

Finding Ulysses again, unless we can reintegrate where we live and where we work into who we are, the entire world becomes a suburb without a center.

50 Degrees At One O’Clock AM In January Upstate New York

When it is 1:15 in the morning on January 5, and the temperature outside is 50 degrees, I am unnerved. I look at the radar maps, and see rain, not snow, and it’s coming from the southwest. Alpena and Trumansburg, Growing

The difference between us and the people of Alpena seems to be that we are still trying to harness our streets instead of giving them free rein.

Ghost of Wordsworth at the Conservatory

The value of long rhythms in a constant place receives less praise than it deserves.

Group of 20 Determines Village Government – Democratically

Trumansburg Democrats were all invited to a caucus, at which everyone interested could participate in the selection of the Democratic Party’s nominees. About 20 people came. I was one of them. A few people had a few concerns with Levine, Bouchard and Hrubos. But, no Democrat was willing to run against our mayor or the two Democratic villlage trustees up for re-election.
