Q: Anyone else tired of this patter on the ambulance taxation/billing?
A: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Q: Did Einstein allegedly say that saying/doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the definition of insanity?
A: Yes, and this silly Riddler ruse is wearing on me.

Q: Does Carstensen seem like he’s saying the same thing over and over and over and has hijacked this blog with his obsession?
A: Does the Riddler care about the members of this community that will be harmed by privatization?

Q: Does Carstensen have a last-word obsession?
A. Only when arguing on behalf of justice against shallow, ignorant philistines.

Robin,

I went to the link you gave us for the Tea Party Patriots, and then read their mission statement http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Mission.aspx

Given the fact that all 3 Democratic candidates are in favor of privatizing our single payer EMS, and all 3 Republican candidates are opposed, I would suggest that the Democrats are adhering more closely to the Tea Party principles than our Republican candidates.

He He! I love it. Let's all join Allen Carstensen and the Republicans in "caring for the community"! Hey, while we're at it why don't we get with those great Republican tea party folks at http://www.teapartypatriots.org/. They're definitely all about community too. Or better yet, how about the fat-cat Republican bankers, community is their watchword I hear.

Mr. Publius,

You go right on ahead and proudly wave your Republican flag, while more rational, and empathetic Republicans get about the work of caring for the community. Your pathetic attempt to slander our fine EMS as "socialist" makes no sense at all. Will your next move be to slander our "socialist" Police Department, Fire Department, and DPW?

You write - "I’ve never used an ambulance in my life. Why should I pay for it in my taxes?" If you are that incredibly short sighted and selfish, you shouldn't. You should find yourself a little island somewhere, and live alone. Some of us, myself for instance, have never used an ambulance, and pay for health insurance, which would pay for it if our EMS billed, do not mind paying taxes for it, because we don't want an underinsured neighbor or tourist to refuse help and die, for fear of a bill.

You write - " I am shocked that anyone on our so-called Republican ticket would support a socialist ambulance service instead of letting the market take care of this need." Let's examine how well your beloved "free market" has handled other health care needs. 45,000 people die in the US as a direct result of lack of health insurance. The profits of the health insurance corporations is growing fast, while at the same time they are jacking up their premiums. Who loses this game? The poor and the middle class lose, only the wealthy win.

You write - "the default position should always be that the government has a role in our lives ONLY when it is absolutely, irrefutably necessary to fill a clear need that cannot adequately be met by the market." Ideally, government is us. They should do whatever the majority want them to do, and more and more will be necessary to correct the inequities and outright crimes being perpetrated by your beloved free market. (collapse of the economy for instance) (illegal foreign wars for another)

Mr. Carstensen,
As a long-time and proud (but lonely in T-burg) Republican, it truly sickens me that you would be waving the Republican flag on this issue. I am shocked that anyone on our so-called Republican ticket would support a socialist ambulance service instead of letting the market take care of this need. Fellow Republicans, what have we done by nominating these people!! I've never used an ambulance in my life. Why should I pay for it in my taxes? If I go to the polls this year, I hate to say it, but I guess I'll be forced to vote the Democrat line. They seem to be the only ones who understand that the default position should always be that the government has a role in our lives ONLY when it is absolutely, irrefutably necessary to fill a clear need that cannot adequately be met by the market. Republican candidates (White, Taylor and Nottke), I challenge you to defend your support of a socialist ambulance system. Is this fellow Carstensen telling the truth about his conversations with you? I certainly hope not.

Even now, at the beginning of the next week, Congressman Arcuri hasn't released any statement about his vote, trying to explain why he's voted to continue George W. Bush's voting regime. Is Arcuri hoping that we just won't notice?

Jackie,

Go to tcgasmap.org and you will see that the recently annexed part of the Village is leased. I just noticed another smaller parcel. 3.9 acres on the North side of Cayuga St. between Prospect and King - this is a more densely populated area. I would hate to live next to it.
