Visitors note Cayuga Lakes temperature at “a chilly 70 degrees”. Around here, that’s rather balmy. There’s a new report of the Old Greeny lake monster, but some details of the report don’t add up very well. The supposed monster of Cayuga Lake is most often given the name of Old Greeny, though someone who saw it back in 1979 called it Cayuga Katie. Most reports say that was the last sighting of the creature, thirty years ago. The underwater videos of Cayuga Lake’s waters, while not very eventful, do have a nice kind of serene quality to them. The water was fairly cold for this time of year as well, and some swimmers were pulled out with hypothermia. Nonetheless, the event was a success – the fundraising goal of the event was exceeded by several thousand dollars. What with the hot weather and the fees we now need to pay to get into Taughannock Falls State Park, the Cayuga Lake mood of the day is rather summery. |
