On Thursday (July 15) at 7:30 PM, our Ulysses Philomathic Library will be hosting a lecture entitled Perceptions of Egypt by Dr. Phil Lempert. There will be refreshments served afterwards. Bryan Isacks will be lecturing on his practice of acupuncture in Trumansburg this Thursday evening in the Ulysses Philomathic Library. The press release also informs us that there will be refreshments available at the lecture by Michelle Wilbur… but does not tell what the portion size will be. The idea is that people across the United States will volunteer to report when the buds on different plants around them open up, so that scientists can look at the data and see whether there are any shifts in plant cycles along with climate change. It’s kind of like a feeder watch, but horticultural. This Sunday, there will be an event at the Ulysses Philomathic Library that you’ll want to be sure not to miss. John Gurche, a Trumansburg resident, will be speaking on the subject of his work bringing art and paleontology together in order to depict animals that have long been extinct.
