If you haven’t been, you’re missing something sweet. The Artisan Cafe seems designed in order to encourage people to eat, drink and act with reflection. Quotations on the balance between thought and action are spread across the walls, and a bookcase provides people with something meaty to go with their food. There’s a good children’s corner as well, which will be very much appreciated by those of us who have bred. Children’s books and an easel continue the theme of the combination of thinking and creation. The first thing I noticed about Sundrees is that it just smells good in there, good enough to keep me lingering. There’s a view of the creek out the window too, like there is in Gimme, but with more foliage. As gorgeous as the space is, it’s the items for sale that make the store. They’re almost all by local artists. It’s a great idea for small store – exactly what Trumansburg needed, and well done. It’s beautiful in there. On the north end of town, the Village Greenhouse is finally gone, and the video store in the new building next to what used to be the Big M is, according to the sign in the window, “very closed”. In the middle of Trumansburg, the new awning for the improved and enlarged Little Venice is [...] The Sweet Shoppe has opened on Main Street in Trumansburg, and the phlox have opened on the side streets as well. |
