In these darkening days, Phoulao bringing us a video from when our village was warmer and lighter, and when the Trumansburg playground was still new: Over 200 people turned up to put together the Trumansburg playground this weekend, and almost all of them were volunteers. They didn’t need “market forces” to motivate their work. They came together because they care about Trumansburg’s kids… and many of the volunteers don’t even have kids in Trumansburg’s schools anymore… or yet. They say that it’s expired, like a carton of milk. I’ve heard many parents say that it’s frustrating that they can’t see their kids easily when they’re playing inside the structure, but then I always thought that was part of its charm.
